About
Who is BevWire?
Your weekly blogger/editor/host is Jason Chong. Born and raised in Vancouver, I started my career in the beverage industry, but later migrated to Toronto to pursue a career marketing other consumer packaged goods. I am currently working with Energizer Holdings on Category Development. My original intent for blogging was to keep a pulse on what’s happening within beverages, the trends, and what (if any) impact it may have on Canada. While I’m no longer working within the beverage industry, I have amassed an audience that are just as passionate as I am about liquid refreshments. Writing on BevWire has become a weekly habit of mine (when I’m not busy with my real world job) so I still write occasionally to keep up to date on what’s happening in the beverage field – and to make sure my writing skills don’t deteriorate.
What does BevWire cover?
BevWire is a blog that generally focuses on the Canadian beverage landscape. Because my educational background is business & marketing, the blog topics most commonly focus on (in no particular order):
- Packaging
- Advertising
- Pricing
- Distribution
- Other topics that I find interesting enough to share
I troll around on the the web collecting articles and information to write about my thoughts on how it may affect the Canadian beverage landscape or the general beverage market. Please send me an e-mail if you find an interesting article and you think I should be covering it. My posts try to focus on the Canadian beverage markets but sometimes I come across international articles that are interesting so I write about them as well. The blog used to include more market share statistics, but I no longer work directly in the beverage industry so the only numbers I can reference are secondary sources from where I find my articles (sorry to disappoint).
Regular weekly posts come out on Monday mornings, so be sure to check back on Mondays for new topics!
Where else are BevWire’s blog posts found?
Although it caters to a different audience, BevWire also writes regularly for Canadian Grocer. Not coincidentally, the blog I host for the publication is also named BevWire. While some articles may seem to be regurgitation, the publication’s audience is mainly retailers whereas the audience on here is you, the curious consumer. Feel free to check out my posts at Canadian Grocer here.
